Duty free · Sydney and the Gold Coast · Click & Collect
Order duty-free online with Heinemann and collect it at the airport counter.
Heinemann runs the duty-free shops at Sydney and on the Gold Coast. Its online shop carries the same range, packs an order against a flight number and holds it at a Collection Point — collected on the way out or on the way home.

Two directions
The same counter, on the way out or on the way home
A pre-order can be picked up before boarding or after landing. The counter does not change with the direction of travel; the timing does.
Departures
Leaving through the international terminal
The order is picked, packed and held at the Collection Point inside the store, on the secure side of the terminal. At Sydney T1 that counter sits in the cashier section of the liquor department, near Gates 8 to 10; on the Gold Coast it is the cashier counter of the international shop.
Collected after security and before the gate closes
International purchases leave duty and tax free
Worth planning as one stop rather than a browse
Arrivals
Coming back through the same shop
A landing passenger can collect at the store on the way to the exit. At Sydney T1 the counter is at the front of the store and on the Gold Coast it is the same cashier counter, which makes the arrival leg a useful place to pick up gifts that were not on the outbound list.
Collected before leaving the terminal building
Purchases stay duty and tax free on the international side
The order waits under the name on the booking
A separate market: the Heinemann shops at Sydney T2 (Jetstar, Virgin and Rex) and T3 (Qantas) serve domestic flights, so purchases there carry 10% GST rather than duty-free pricing.
Timing
Thirty days out, twenty-four hours out
The order window opens well before the flight and closes a day ahead of it. Both edges are set by the shop, and the middle of the window is where most orders land.
30 days before
The window opens
Any flight inside the next thirty days can be ordered against, once the flight number and the departure date are entered at checkout.
About a week before
The comfortable stretch
Early enough for the lines that run thin on the shelves, and late enough that the trip details are settled. Most Click & Collect orders are placed here.
24 hours before
The cut-off for the next day
This is the last moment the shop accepts an order for a flight departing the following day. Inside twenty-four hours the store floor takes over.
Flight day
Handover
The packed order is waiting at the counter. The traveller arrives with the confirmation, the card used for the order, a passport and the boarding pass.
One order, one allowance. An order is placed in the traveller’s own name and against their own allowance only — two companions cannot pool orders to raise the limits of the destination.
Eighteen or over, ticket in hand. A valid flight ticket with flight number and departure date is required, and Click & Collect is open to adults.
Counters
Where the order is handed over
Six Collection Points across four terminal areas. The counter is named on the order confirmation, and store staff will point it out if the signage is missed.

An order that waits where you are going
Duty-free shopping has two routes to the till. The first is the walk through the shop: shelves, a basket and a queue at the cashier, fitted into the stretch between security and the gate. The second route starts at home.
The same range is ordered against a flight number, picked and packed by the store team, and then held at a counter instead of sitting on a shelf. Nothing about the purchase is left to the day of travel beyond the handover itself.
The window gives the second route its shape. Ordering opens thirty days before departure and stops twenty-four hours before it — roughly the time the shop needs to pick the order, pack it and have it waiting at the right terminal. Inside that window, an order behaves like a reservation: the lines are the shop’s current lines, and the price shown at checkout is the price at the counter.
Collection is not only for the outbound leg. A passenger landing back in Australia can collect from the store on the way to the exit, which is why a gift for the people at home is one of the usual reasons to use the arrival counter. On the international side the purchase keeps its duty and tax free basis whichever direction it is collected.
The rules around the counter are narrow and consistent. An order sits in the traveller’s own name, against their own allowance, and cannot be combined with a companion’s to push past the limits of the destination. Passengers must be eighteen or older and hold a ticket carrying a flight number and a date.
What deserves a second read is the part about change. If the flight moves to another day, the date shifts or the gate is reassigned, the shop asks to be told, because the order was packed and placed against one specific flight rather than against a day at the airport.
The order is picked, packed and held under one name. It never browses the shelves waiting for whoever turns up.

At the counter
Four things travel with the order
The check at the counter is short. These are the four items the store asks for when an order changes hands.
01
Order confirmation
Sent when the checkout is complete. The counter matches the reference to the name on the order.
02
The card used
The payment card behind the order is asked for at handover, so the counter can close the record.
03
Passport
Identity and age are checked against the travel document, and the purchase is tied to the flight.
04
Boarding pass
The flight number and date on the pass have to line up with the ones the order was placed against.
Coupons stay in the store. Vouchers and coupons are treated as an in-person matter and are not redeemed against an online order.
The receipt is the invoice. A receipt is issued at the counter when the order is collected, and that receipt is the proof of purchase.

Questions
What travellers ask before the flight
What is Click & Collect, in practice?
An order is placed on the shop’s website against a flight, the store picks and packs the lines, and the bag is handed over at a Collection Point in the airport shop — either before boarding or after landing.
How late can an order be placed?
From thirty days before the flight down to twenty-four hours before it. Tighten the gap any further and the purchase has to be made on the store floor instead.
Can my partner pick the order up for me?
No. An order belongs to one traveller and one allowance, and the shop does not let companions combine orders to lift the limits attached to the destination.
What has to be in hand at the counter?
The order confirmation, the payment card used for the purchase, a passport, and a boarding pass whose flight number and date match the order.
Is anything added at the domestic terminals?
At Sydney T2 and T3 the shops serve domestic flights, so prices carry 10% GST. Purchases on the international side, in both directions, are duty and tax free.
The flight moved to another day — what then?
Heinemann asks passengers to contact its customer service team by email at [email protected] so the order can be moved with the flight.
Can an order be placed from this page?
No. This page only explains the service; the cart, the checkout and the counter all belong to Heinemann at heinemann.com.au.
